Setting up a new user account in a software product.
Set Up Your [Product Name] User Account
This task describes setting up and accessing your new online account in the [Product Name] user portal. You can change your default user ID and password and set up security and profile options.
Get Started
Once you’ve consulted with your loan officer, you’ll get a [Product Name] access link to create an account and get started.
Open the email from your loan officer and locate your temporary user ID, temporary password, and the “Access User Portal Dashboard” link.
Review your temporary credentials, then click the “Access User Portal Dashboard” link. The link opens a browser window.
Enter your temporary user ID (usually the first eight characters of your email address) and your temporary password (usually the last four digits of your social security number).
[Product Name] displays the Account Settings screen. From this screen, you can set up a user ID and password. For more information, see Create Your User ID and Password.
You can navigate to your chosen Workflow Overview, either for a new mortgage or refinance. Select Workflow Overview from the main User Portal Dashboard.
Create Your User ID and Password
You can create your user ID for [Product Name].
Select Account Settings > User ID and Password from the User Portal Dashboard.
Configure the following settings:
Credential
Information
User ID
Type the user ID you want to use. You may use upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and the symbols !, @, $, &.
Password
You must enter this password to log in and to change your user settings in the User Portal Dashboard. The default password is the last four digits of your social security number.
Select Save. [Product Name] will prompt you to log in again with your new credentials.
Once you’ve logged in, [Product Name] displays the User Portal Dashboard, from which you can select your chosen Workflow Overview, either for a new mortgage or a refinance.
Configure Account Security Settings
Account security settings help prevent unauthorized access to your [Product Name] account. These settings are optional but highly recommended.
From the User Portal Dashboard, select Account Settings > Security
Configure the following settings:

Enter up to four security questions and answers.
Set up two-factor authentication
Enable two-factor authentication by entering your phone number. You will be prompted to authorize the phone number with a text message. Each time you log into [Product Name], you will receive a text message with an authentication code. For more information, see Two-Factor Authentication.
Use Windows Authenticator access
Enter your Microsoft ID to enable Windows Authenticator use. Each time you log into [Product Name], you will receive a message to authenticate your access on a secondary device. See Using Microsoft Authenticator to Access [Product Name] for more information.
Select Save.
Add Profile Configuration Options
You can customize your account profile in the dashboard with the following settings.
From the User Portal Dashboard, select Account Info > Profile Options
Configure the following settings:

Photo
Upload a photo or avatar for your profile.
Alternate email address
You may add one additional email address to your account. All messages sent from Octane will be copied to the alternate address. This is handy for loan applications with two parties applying for a single loan or refinance.
Alternate phone number
You may add one additional phone number to your account. The alternate phone number will only be used as an emergency contact number.
Select Save.
