Set Up a New Twitter Account
This process describes setting up a new Twitter account using your email ID. As you go through the setup procedure, you’ll have several options for customizing your username, profile, and preferred content.
Get Started
Open a new browser window from your web browser and visit Twitter.com to get started. Twitter’s splash page will invite you to create a new account.
Click Sign up with phone or email.
In the Username field, enter a username of your choice (you can also change this later).
By default, Twitter prompts you to sign up with your phone number. Click Use email instead.
Enter your email ID and date of birth, then click Next.
Twitter will prompt you to Track where you see Twitter content across the web. By default, this option is pre-selected. Click the green check mark if you do not want Twitter to personalize your experience with content in the app. For more information, see Track Content Across the Web.
Click Next to review your account name, email, and date of birth.
Click Sign up to create your new account. Twitter will prompt you for an email verification code.
Check your email for a message from Twitter, then enter the code you received in the verification field in the web browser window.
Create Your Twitter Password
Once you have verified your email ID, Twitter will prompt you to create your password.
Type your selected password in the Password field. Make sure it is eight characters or more in length.
Click Next.
You are now ready to customize your Twitter profile.
Customize Your Twitter Profile
Twitter provides several options for your profile. You can enter these when you first set up your account or select Skip for now to set them up later.
